Konon, dahulu kala ada sebuah kerajaan. Tidak disebutkan oleh pencerita apa nama kerajaan itu. Menurut cerita, kerajaan itu cukup besar. Negerinya kaya raya sehingga penghasilan rakyat melimpah ruah. Rajanya adil dan bijaksana. Kekayaan kerajaan bukan hanya dinikmati raja dan keluarganya, tetapi rakyat pun turut menikmati. Pantaslah jika kerajaan itu selalu dalam suasana tenteram dan damai. Dengan kerajaan-kerajaan lain pun, tidak pernah terjadi silang sengketa sehingga mereka dapat hidup berdampingan secara damai.
Sayang, ketenteraman itu tidak bertahan lama. Tidak disangka-sangka musibah datang menimpa mereka. Mereka bukan diserang musuh yang iri pada kemakmuran dan kerukunan kerajaan, tetapi oleh burung raksasa yang tiba-tiba muncul. Langit menjadi gelap gulita karena tubuh burung itu amat besar.
