Sedangkan 6 buah milik Jepang adalah 4 paten mengenai pembuatan tempe; 1 paten mengenai antioksidan; dan 1 paten mengenai kosmetik menggunakan bahan tempe yang diisolasi. Paten lain untuk Jepang, disebut Tempeh, temuan Nishi dan Inoue (Riken Vitamin Co. Ltd) diberikan pada 10 Juli 1986.
