Tradisi malam selawe diadakan pada hari ke 24 atau menjelang hari ke 25 ramadhan bisa dibilang malam puncak ramadhan banyak peziarah yang datang ke Makam Sunan Giri. para peziarah tidak hanya datang dari daerah Gresik dan sekitarnya tapi ada yang dari luar daerah, bahkan luar pulau. Adanya tradisi Malam Selawe tak diketahui sejak kapan adanya, akan tetapi sudah diwariskan secara turun temurun sejak zaman Sunan Giri. SElain itu menjadi cerita dari mulut-ke mulut sampai sekarang. Selain itu, malam 25 pada bulan ramadhan merupakan saat dimana Kanjeng Sunan Giri bertemu dengan malam Seribu Bulan.Selain itu banyak pula ratusan PKL yang mengais rezeki sepanjang jalan Sunan Giri hingga lokasi makam Sunan Giri.
