pentingnya bahasa menjadi suatu hal yang wajib untuk diketahui dan dipelajari. menurut book ( dalam Deddy 2008) bahasa harus memenuhi tiga fungsi dalam kehidupan manusia. pertama, untuk mengenal dunia di sekitar. kedua sebagai sarana duntuk berhubungan dengan orang lain. fungsi yang kedua juga bermakna bahwa bahasa dapat mempengaruhi manusia yang lain dalam kehidupan. namun kemampuan berkomunikasi efektif tidak hanya bergantung pada bahasa yang sama. akan tetapi juga pada makna yang sama. semakin jauh mitra komunikasi setiap manusia makan kualitas bahasa akan semakin baik. ketiga dengan bahasa perlu memungkinkan manusia untuk hidup lebih baik, saling mengenal diri dan kepercayaan-kepercayaan serta tujuan hidup manusia dalam kehidupan. kehidupan yang semakin bertaraf internasional mendorong semua masyarakat untuk mempelajari bahasa.
