Emotion regulation (RE) refers to the ability to modify the experience and expression of emotions in order to respond to emotions appropriately influenced by the occurrence, timing, and nature of emotions (Gross, 2013; Gross & Thompson, 2007). Testing the factor structure using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The sample used in stage try out as many as 100 people, while at the implementation stage as many as 493 people, sampling was performed randomly in five areas of Jakarta which consists of four SMA and SMK Negeri 1. Research results obtained new measurement tools based on testing the factor structure. New measuring instrument consists of 7 factors which are divided into an adaptive emotion regulation strategies as much as 5 dimensions (problem solving, social support, reappraisal, distraction, and pleasant), and maladaptive emotion regulation strategies as much as two-dimensional (avoidance and rumination). A total of 40 items is valid and significant build up of this measure. Based on the test results of psychometric measurement tools recently shown significantly able to differentiate between groups of adolescents with symptoms of depression with groups that do not show symptoms of depression (p = 0.000, p <0.05), the score CESDR-10 and score Regulations Emotion (ER) negative correlation of - 0,462, meaning the lower the score CESDR-10, the better tinggat adolescent emotion regulation, and conversely the higher the score CESDR-10, the lower levels of adolescent emotion regulation. reappraisal, distraction, and pleasant), and maladaptive emotion regulation strategies as much as two-dimensional (avoidance and rumination).
