Perampokan ini terjadi pada malam hari ketika Maimun dan keluarganya sedang tidur. Menurut Maimun, perampok itu masuk melalui pintu belakang karena pintu depan rumah Maimun terkunci, dan dia lupa mengunci pintu belakang rumahnya, sehingga perampok itu masuk ke dalam rumah dengan mudah.
