Ribuan keluarga kehilangan anggota keluarganya, anak-anak terpisah dari orang tuanya, bahkan tak sedikit warga yang mengalami trauma. Anak-anak pun diadopsi dan dirawat oleh panti asuhan. Ada juga anak yang dirawat oleh keluarga lain.

Salah satu cerita menyedihkan pun dialami oleh Vaneza Rizkia. Gadis berusia 15 tahun ini merupakan anak korban tsunami Aceh.

Saat bencana terjadi, usianya baru lima tahun. Vaneza pun kehilangan keluarganya dalam bencana ini. Ia yang saat itu masih balita dibawa ke Medan oleh seseorang. Vaneza pun selama beberapa tahun hidup dirawat oleh keluarga barunya itu.

Menurut Gubernur Aceh Zaini Abdullah, saat di Medan Vaneza sempat menjadi korban penjualan manusia untuk dibawa ke Malaysia. Ia pun akhirnya bekerja di Malaysia selama bertahun-tahun.

Di sana, Vaneza yang telah tumbuh dewasa dipekerjakan menjadi buruh kasar serta menjadi pembantu rumah tangga. Zaini mengatakan, Vaneza bahkan sempat hidup seorang diri tanpa adanya keluarga.

Vaneza pun hidup di jalanan di negara tetangga itu. Untuk bertahan hidup, ia terpaksa meminta belas kasih warga. Berbagai perlakuan kasar pun pernah dijalaninya di Malaysia.

Iba dengan kondisinya, salah satu keluarga yang menjadi majikan terakhirnya pun membantunya. Melalui Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia di Malaysia, Vaneza berhasil diselamatkan dari penderitaan yang selama ini ia alami.

"Kedubes RI di Malaysia baru saja memulangkan seorang anak perempuan Vaneza Rizkia berusia 15 tahun yang merupakan korban tsunami Aceh," kata Gubernur Aceh.

Upaya penyelamatan oleh pemerintah Aceh dan Kedubes RI di Malaysia pun mengakhiri penderitaannya di negeri Jiran itu. Dalam peringatan 10 tahun bencana tsunami ini, Vaneza yang mengenakan kerudung dapat kembali menginjakkan kakinya di kampung halamannya.
