Kusta atau lepra (leprosy) atau disebut juga Morbus Hansen merupakan penyakit menular kronis yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Mycobacterium leprae, melalui kulit dan mukosa hidung. Penyakit kusta terutama menyerang saraf tepi, kulit dan organ tubuh lain kecuali susunan saraf pusat yang apabila tidak didiagnosis dan diobati secara dini dapat menimbulkan kecacatan ( Frambusia, 2007 ). Bayangan cacat kusta menyebabkan penderita seringkali tidak dapat menerima keputusan / kenyataan bahwa ia menderita kusta akibatnya akan ada perubahan mendasar pada kepribadian dan tingkah lakunya. Ia akan berusaha sedapat mungkin menyembunyikan keadaannya sebagai penderita kusta (Depkes, 2006). Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan crosssectional (belah lintang). Pengumpulan data dilakukan secara kuantitatif untuk mengetahui Hubungan Antara Tingkat Dukungan Keluarga Dengan Mekanisme Koping Individu Pada Pasien Kusta Di Puskesmas Wilayah Kerja Kabupaten Ciamis Tahun 2015 dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 38 orang dimana pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode unproportional sampling . Analisa univariat dilakukan terhadap tiap variabel dari jenis penelitian. Pada umumnya analisis ini hanya menghasilkan distribusi frekuensi dan presentasi dari tiap variabel. Analisa bivariat dilakukan untuk mencari hubungan antara 2 variabel yaitu variabel bebas dan terikat. Uji statistik yang digunakan untuk mencari hubungan antara variabel dukungan keluarga dengan variabel mekanisme koping individu adalah uji Chi square. hubungan antara tingkat dukungan keluarga dengan mekanisme koping individu pada pasien kusta di Puskesmas wilayah kerja Kabupaten Ciamis Tahun 2015 dengan p value 0,006. Saran setelah melakukan penelitian ini adalah Anggota keluarga penderita kusta dan masyarakat sekitar hendaknya meningkatkan dukungannya terhadap penderita kusta agar penderita kusta terhindar dari gangguan psikis, hal penting lainnya yang sebaiknya dilakukan oleh keluarga yaitu meningkatkan kedekatan emosional dengan penderita kusta
sehingga kejadian gangguan kepribadian pada penderita kusta dapat diatasi
