A. PENGERTIAN FOTOSINTESIS
Fotosintesis adalah proses pembuatan molekul
makanan berenergi tinggi dari komponen yang
lebih sederhana, yang dilakukan oleh tumbuhan
autotrof (tumbuhan yang dapat membuat
makanan sendiri). Fotosintesis berasal dari kata
foton yang artinya “cahaya” dan sintesis yang
artinya “penyusun”, jadi fotosintesis juga diartikan
dengan proses biokimiawi yang dilakukan oleh
tumbuhan untuk menghasilkan energi (nutrisi)
dengan memanfaatkan energi cahaya.
Daun merupakan komponen utama pada
tumbuhan yang berperan dalam fotosintesis ini,
pada daun terdapat klorofil (zat hijau daun), nah
klorofil inilah yang akan menyerap energi matahari
sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan untuk menghasilkan
energi (nutrisi).
