Skripsi ini berjudul “Pandangan A.A

Skripsi ini berjudul “Pandangan A.A.Navis Terhadap Budaya Matrialkhal Masyarakat Minangkabau dalam Novel Gerhana”. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriftip analisis, yakni dengan mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis novel Gerhana serta mengumpulkan data-data yang diperlukan dalam penelitian ini. Dibantu dengan teori strukturalisme genetik Lucian Goldman.
Hasil analisis yang didapatkan berdasarkan penelaahan tersebut, membuktikan bahwa ada tiga unsur yang A.A.Navis singgung berkenaan dengan budaya matrialkhal. Ketiga unsur tersebut yakni kekuasaan, penindasan dan percintaan. Dari ketiga unsur ini didapatkan pemahaman bahwa hal tersebut berupa kritikan yang ingin disampaikan pengarang terhadap peranan laki-laki dan perempuan Minang dalam menjalankan budaya matrialkhal.
Pada akhirnya, A.A.Navis ingin memberikan sebuah pandangan baru terhadap budaya matrialkhal, yakni matrialkhal yang menciptakan kesetaraan antara kaum laki-laki dan kaum perempuan. Lebih tegasnya adalah perempuan sebagai “the owner”. Sedangkan laki-laki, “the manager” dari suatu sistem masyarakat sehingga posisi perempuan sama kuatnya dengan laki-laki.
