Awal mula tulisan di ditulis dengan menggunakan gambar kulit hewan, batu, tanah liat, dan tulang, tulisan ini ditulis dengan cara menyusun gambar, salasatu contohnya hieroglyph pada jaman Mesir Kuno, tulisan ini dapat dilihat dari piramid mesir, guha, dan bebatuan.
