Program penjangkauan dan pendamping

Program penjangkauan dan pendampingan (outreach) adalah proses penjangkauan langsung yang dilakukan secara aktif kepada Penasun baik secara kelompok maupun individu. Akibat stigma dan deskriminasi yang sangat kuat terhadap status penggunaan napzanya menyebabkan populasi ini sulit dijangkau dengan metode yang lebih formal. Pekerja lapangan melakukan identifikasi lokasi tempat penasun berkumpul atau tempat-tempat yang memungkinkan untuk berinteraksi langsung dengan penasun. Proses penjangkauan dan pendampingan memberi peluang bagi Penasun untuk dapat mengakses berbagai layanan kesehatan yang dibutuhkannya, seperti: mendapatkan layanan informasi, tes HIV dan konseling, layanan kesehatan dasar yang tersedia, layanan manajemen kasus untuk penasun yang membutuhkan, akses terhadap jarum suntik steril dan layanan lainnya yang memungkinkan.
Adapun tujuan Program penjangkauan dan pendampingan adalah :
- Membuka akses sebesar mungkin pada komunitas Penasun yang berada di komunitas,
- Memberikan informasi yang memadai mengenai bahaya HIV/AIDS dan dampak buruk Napza sehingga menimbulkan kesadaran Penasun untuk mengurangi risiko terhadap dampak buruk yang mungkin muncul,
- Memotivasi dan melibatkan Penasun untuk mengurangi risiko perilaku penggunaan Napza suntik melalui berbagai upaya yang memungkinkan untuk dicoba,
- Memberikan dukungan secara terus menerus pada Penasun untuk mempertahankan perubahan perilaku lebih aman yang mungkin terjadi, dan
- Melibatkan Penasun agar secara aktif melakukan penyebaran informasi dan membentuk kepedulian sesama, sehingga ikut terlibat dalam upaya pencegahan dan penanggulangan HIV/AIDS.
