Membaca merupakan salah satu komponen pokok dalam belajar bahasa baik bagi orang dewasa maupun anak-anak. Keterampilan membaca merupakan barometer keberhasilan bagi pembelajar bahasa Arab, sehingga membaca dianggap sebagai unsur terpenting daripada empat keterampilan berbahasa yang ada. Keberhasilan sebuah pengajaran bahasa dapat dilihat dari kemampuan siswanya dalam membaca, apabila siswanya membaca dengan lancar dan benar serta sesuai dengan kaidah-kaidahnya maka pengajaran itu dianggap berhasil. Oleh karena itu, pengajaran keterampilan membaca sudah sepantasnya harus diberikan oleh guru kepada peserta didik dengan baik sejak awal.

The success of a language teaching can be seen from the ability of their students in reading, when their students read fluently and correctly and in accordance with the kaidah-kaidahnya then teaching it is considered successful. Therefore, the teaching of reading skills should already have to be given by the teacher to the learner with good early on.
