Pluralisme adalah suatu paham atau pandangan hidup yang mengakui dan menerima adanya kemajemukan atau keanekaragaman dalam suatu kelompok masyarakat. Kemajemukan dimaksud misalnya dilihat dari segi agama, suku, ras, adat-istiadat, dll. Segi-segi inilah yang biasanya menjadi dasar pembentukan aneka macam kelompok lebih kecil, terbatas dan khas, serta yang menjadi ciri dan membedakan kelompok yang satu dengan kelompok yang lain, dalam suatu kelompok masyarakat yang majemuk dan yang lebih besar atau lebih luas.
