Populasi dalam penelitian adalah seluruh siswa SMP Negeri 5 Semarang kelas VII tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling dengan yang terpilih kelas VII E sebagai kelas kontrol yang diberi pembelajaran dengan pendekatan scientific, kelas VIII F sebagai kelas eksperimen 1 yang diberi pembelajaran model CPS berpendekatan realistik berbantuan edmodo, dan kelas VII G sebagai kelas eksperimen 2 yang diberi pembelajaran model CPS berpendekatan realistik. Untuk data kualitatif, pemilihan subjek berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling. Pemilihan subjek berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling, yaitu penentuan subjek dengan pertimbangan tertentu (Sugiyono, 2013). Pertimbangan tertentu yang dilakukan adalah memilih dua subjek pada kelas atas, dua subjek pada kelas tengah dan dua subjek pada kelas bawah. Kelompok atas merupakan siswa yang memiliki nilai tertinggi, kelompok tengah merupakan siswa yang memiliki nilai sedang dan kelompok bawah merupakan siswa yang memiliki nilai terendah. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah pembelajaran menggunakan model CPS berpendekatan realistik berbantuan edmodo, pembelajaran menggunakan model PBL dberpendekatan realistik dan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan scientific, sedangkan variabel terikat adalah kemampuan literasi matematika siswa dan kerakter mandiri.
Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dengan menggunakan metode dokumentasi, tes, observasi, angket, dan wawancara. Metode observasi digunakan untuk mengetahui kualitas pembelajaran dan karakter mandiri siswa menggunakan model CPS dengan pendekatan realistik berbantuan edmodo dan yang menggunakan model CPS dengan pendekatan realistik. Tes digunakan untuk memperoleh data nilai kemampuan literasi matematika siswa yang menjadi sampel penelitian. Tes ini terdiri dari 1 konten, yaitu Uncertainty and Data yang terdiri atas 10 butir soal yang memuat indikator literasi matematika. Sebelum tes kemampuan literasi matematika ini diberikan kepada siswa, tes diujicobakan terlebih dahulu untuk mengetahui validitas, reliabilitas, daya pembeda, dan tingkat kesukaran dari delapan soal tersebut. Metode angket digunakan untuk mengetahui kemampuan literasi matematika siswa menggunakan model CPS berpendekatan realistik berbantuan Edmodo dan yang menggunakan model CPS berpendekatan realistik. Metode wawancara digunakan untuk mengetahui karakter mandiri pada siswa setelah mengikuti pembelajaran dan kemampuan literasi matematika siswa.
Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis untuk menguji hipotesis. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah: (1) uji rata-rata dan uji proporsi pihak kanan, untuk menguji tingkat kentuntasan individual dan klasikal; dan (3) uji kesamaan Teknik analisis data kuantitatif yang digunakan adalah: (1) uji normalitas; (2) uji homogenitas; (3) uji rata-rata dan uji proporsi pihak kanan, untuk menguji tingkat kentuntasan individual dan klasikal; (4) uji analisis varians satu jalur, untuk mengetahui perbedaan rata-rata antara kelas eksperimen 1, eksperimen 2, dan kontrol; (5) uji uji gain, untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan literasi matematika siswa antara sebelum diberi perlakuan dan sesudah diberi perlakuan

The test is used to obtain the value data of mathematical literacy abilities of students to become research samples.
