1.3 PERMASALAHAN
PT.PERTAMINA RU.III Plaju merupakan perusahaan Persero yang hasil produksinya dapat dikelompokkan menjadi 4, yaitu produk Bahan Bakar Minyak (BBM), Bahan Bakar Khusus (BBK), Non Bahan Bakar (NBM) dan Petrokimia. Bahan baku untuk produk BBM, BBK dan NBM digunakan bahan minyak mentah yang diperoleh dari bahan tambang. Sedangkan bahan baku untuk produk Petrokimia digunakan bahan paraxylene dan propane propylene yang diperoleh dari PT. PERTAMINA RU.IV Cilacap dan kilang FCCU S. Gerong. PT. PERTAMINA RU.III Plaju.
Salah satu proses utama pengolahan minyak bumi dan petrokimia di Refinery Unit III Plaju-Sungai Gerong adalah Primary Process. Primary Process merupakan proses pemiasahan komponen - komponen minyak mentah yang dilakukan secara fisik, yaitu dengan cara distilasi pada tekanan atmosferik maupun pada tekanan vakum. Sebagian dari hasil distilasi ada yang menjadi produk langsung dan sebagian lagi harus melewati tahapan secondary process untuk pengolahan lebih lanjut. Unit operasi yang digunakan pada proses ini adalah Crude Distiller (CD) dan Redistiller bertekanan atmosferik. Pada unit Crude Distiller terdiri dari unit CD II, CD III, CD IV dan CD V.
Dengan melihat kondisi ini, maka kami ingin mengetahui lebih lanjut mengenai proses yang terjadi pada unit operasi Crude Distiller (CD) II dari PT. Pertamina RU.III Plaju. Dimana pada unit operasi Crude Distiller (CD) II ini berfungsi untuk memisahkan fraksi-fraksi minyak mentah dengan memanfaatkan perbedaan titik didih pada tekanan atmosfer. Untuk memenuhi tugasnya tersebut, unit ini dilengkapi dengan lima buah kolom fraksionasi, satu evaporator, dua buah furnace, dan alat-alat pendukung lainnya. Umpan yang masuk ke unit ini adalah minyak mentah yang berasal dari SLC dan Jene. Produk yang dihasilkan pada unit ini diantaranya adalah Gas, Crude Buthane, SR Tops, Naphtha II, LKD, LCT dan Long Residu.

While raw material for Petrochemical products used propane and propylene paraxylene materials obtained from PT PERTAMINA RU IV Cilacap refinery FCCU and s. Gerong. PT. PERTAMINA RU. III Plaju.One of the main processes of petroleum processing and petrochemicals in the Refinery Unit III Plaju rivers Gerong is the Primary Process. The primary Process is the process of pemiasahan components of crude oil which is done physically, i.e. by way of distillation at atmospheric pressure or vacuum pressure. Some of the results of the distillation of some became direct and partly product must pass through the stages of secondary process for further processing. Unit operations are used in this process is the Crude Distiller (CD) and atmospheric pressure Redistiller. On a Crude unit unit consists of a Distiller CD CD II, III, IV and V CD CD. By looking at this condition, then we want to find out more about the processes that occur in the operating unit Crude Distiller (CD) II of PT. Pertamina RU. III Plaju. Where on the unit operation Crude Distiller (CD) II serves to separate the fractions-fraction of crude oil by utilizing the difference in boiling point at atmospheric pressure. To fulfill his duties, this unit is equipped with five fraksionasi columns, a single evaporator, two furnaces, and other support tools.
