Masa Tua dan Kematian

Cut Nyak Dhien ditangkap dan dibawa ke Banda Aceh dan dirawat di rumah sakit disana, sementara itu Cut Gambang berhasil melarikan diri ke hutan dan meneruskan perlawanan yang sudah dilakukan oleh ayah dan ibunya.

Penyakitnya seperti rabun dan encok berangsur-angsur sembuh. Namun, Cut Nyak Dien akhirnya dibuang ke Sumedang, Jawa Barat, karena ketakutan Belanda bahwa kehadirannya akan menciptakan semangat perlawanan dan juga karena ia terus berhubungan dengan pejuang yang belum tunduk.

Pada tanggal 6 November 1908, Cut Nyak Dhien meninggal karena usianya yang sudah tua. Makam "Ibu Perbu" baru ditemukan pada tahun 1959 berdasarkan permintaan Gubernur Aceh saat itu, Ali Hasan. "Ibu Perbu" diakui oleh Presiden Soekarno sebagai Pahlawan Nasional Indonesia melalui SK Presiden RI No.106 Tahun 1964 pada tanggal 2 Mei 1964.

Makam Cut Nyak Dhien pertama kali dipugar pada 1987 dan dapat terlihat melalui monumen peringatan di dekat pintu masuk yang tertulis tentang peresmian makam yang ditandatangani oleh Gubernur Aceh Ibrahim Hasan pada tanggal 7 Desember 1987. Makam Cut Nyak Dhien dikelilingi pagar besi yang ditanam bersama beton dengan luas 1.500 m2. Di belakang makam terdapat musholla dan di sebelah kiri makam terdapat banyak batu nissan yang dikatakan sebagai makam keluarga ulama H. Sanusi.

Pada batu nissan Cut Nyak Dhien, tertulis riwayat hidupnya, tulisan bahasa Arab, Surah At-Taubah dan Al-Fajr, serta hikayat cerita Aceh.
