Siswa Sekolah Dasar
Periode kanak-kanak madya dan akhir yang berkisar pada usia 6 – 11 tahun, disebut Santrock (2004) sebagai usia sekolah dasar. Masa perkembangan ini disebut masa sekolah dasar karena pada masa ini anak diharapkan memperoleh pengetahuan dasar yang dipandang sangat penting bagi persiapan dan penyesuaian diri terhadap kehidupan di masa dewasa. Masa usia sekolah dasar disebut juga masa intelektual karena keterbukaan dan keinginan anak untuk mendapat pengetahuan dan pengalaman (Munandar, 1992).
Anak diharapkan mempelajari ketrampilan-ketrampilan tertentu baik kurikuler maupun ekstra kurikuler. Ketrampilan yang menjadi ciri-ciri khas anak sekolah :
a. ketrampilan membantu diri sendiri
anak sudah mampu makan, berpakaian dan mandi sendiri tanpa memerlukan perhatian orangtua seperti pada masa kanak-kanak.
b. ketrampilan sosial
anak diharapkan sudah dapat membantu orang lain. Di rumah ia dapat membantu membersihkan rumah atau membantu berbelanja. Di sekolah ia dapat membantu guru membersihkan papan tulis, membersihkan kelas, dan sebagainya.
c. ketrampilan sekolah
di sekolah anak mengenbangkan ketrampilan menulis, menggambar, memasak, menjahit, menggergaji, dan sebagainya.
d. ketrampilan bermain
anak mempelajari ketrampilan seperti naik sepeda, berenang, main bola, main sepatu roda dan sebagainya.
