Jika pada terminal gerbang-sumber dicatu tegangan yang cukup besar maka piranti akan ON, sehingga menghasilkan tegangan yang kecil antara terminal pengalir-sumber. Dalam kondisi ON, perubahan tegangan pada terminal pengalir-sumber berbanding lurus dengan arus pada terminal pengalirnya. Jadi, terminal pengalir-sumber memiliki resistansi sangat kecil pada saat kondisi ON.
