Berpikir kritis membantu kita dalam merumuskan atau memecahkan masalah. Bahkan dengan berpikir secara kritis dapat membantu kita dalam membuat keputusan yang akan kita ambil. Seperti contoh dalam kasus penderita kanker yang memiliki masalah fisik, mental, dan sosial memilih untuk mengakhiri hidupnya agar ia bisa mengakhiri penderitaanya. Melihat masalah tersebut kita dituntut untuk berpikir secara kritis mengenai masalah yang ada dalam kasus tersebut. Selain dengan berpikir kritis, setiap manusia harus memahami terlebih dahulu pengertian kehidupan yang sesungguhnya dan harus memiliki tujuan hidup yang jelas. Dalam penulisan ini juga akan diuraikan secara luas mengenai pengakhiran kehidupan yang dilihat dari berbagai sudut pandang, karena banyak cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk menghadapi masalah atau menghilangkan penderitaan tanpa melakukan pengakhiran kehidupan.
