Membahas perubahan kurikulum yang menekankan pada perubahan proses pembelajaran yang tertuang dalam perubahan standar proses, peneliti tertarik untuk melihat seberapa jauh guru mampu mengimplementasikan kurikulum 2013. Dari ke-15 sekolah yang melakukan uji coba terbatas, peneliti memilih salah satu di antaranya yaitu SD Bantul Timur, Bantul Yogyakarta. Untuk itu, peneliti mengangkat judul “Implementasi Pembelajaran Tematik Terpadu Kurikulum 2013 pada Kelas IV B di SD Bantul Timur.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan perencanaan, pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran, dan penilaian pembelajaran menggunakan kurikulum 2013, tema“daerah tempat tinggalku”, subtema “keunikan daerah tempat tinggalku” pada kelas IV B di SD Bantul Timur, Bantul, Yogyakarta. Adapun urgensi dari hasil penelitian ini dapat digunakan sekolah sebagai umpan balik untuk menilai sejauh mana implementasi kurikulum 2013 di sekolah tersebut telah dilaksakan khususnya pada kelas yang ditunjuk. Selain itu, harapannya penelitian ini dapat dijadikan rujukan bagi sekolah-sekolah yang akan mengimplementasikan kurikulum 2013 di awal tahun ajaran 2014.
