Dari kejadian-kejadian tersebut solidaritas sosial menjadi kata kunci untuk membangun bangsa, memajukan negara, dan tanpa solidaritas sosial dalam penanggulangan berbagai bencana alam akan sulit dilakukan, sementara negara belum mampu menanggulanginya tanpa peran serta dari masyarakat. Di samping itu solidaritas itu sendiri dapat diartikan sebagai kesatuan kepentingan perasaan atau ungkapan dalam sebuah kelompok yang dibentuk oleh kepentingan bersama yang diwujudkan dalam dukungan suara bulat dan tindakan kolektif untuk sesuatu hal.

Mungkin kita tidak bisa mencegah terjadinya bencana alam tetapi kalau kita mau, kita bisa membina solidaritas sosial dan bantuan bagi para korban. Siswa dapat berperan dalam meningkatkan solidaritas sosial melalui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler di sekolah seperti seperti PMR, Pramuka, dll. Dalam kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat ditumbuhkan rasa kemanusiaan terhadap sesama dalam diri setiap siswa .
