Cermin adalah suatu benda yang dapat memantulkan cahaya. Cermin sudah sangat dekat dengan kehidupan kita. Cermin dapat digunakan sebagai alat untuk bercermin, untuk memudahkan melihat ke belakang saat berkenndara, dan lain-lain.
Dahulu cermin masih belum ada, jika seseorang ingin melihat penampilan dirinya seseorang harus menggambarkan penampilannya atau melihat genangan air. Kemudian cermin mulai muncul, yaitu dengan menggunakan allumunium yang dihaluskan hingga benar-benar halus, tetapi hasil pantulannya masih kurang jelas. Kemudian datang seorang ahli yang memperkenalkan cermin yang dapat memantulkan cahaya lebih sempurna dibandingkan dengan allumunium, yaitu menggunakan kaca dan raksa yang dikeringkan.
Sekarang sudah banyak model-model cermin, mulai dari yang berbentuk lingkaran, oval, segitiga, persegi, dan lain-lain.
