Di kehutanan, Toleransi pohon merupakan kemampuan tumbuhan untuk hidup di bawah naungan.
Sifat toleransi pohon sendiri tidak konstan untuk satu jenis dalam semua keadaan dan di pengaruhi oleh umur, kekeringan, kesuburan tanah dan garis lintang.
Toleransi dibagi menjadi tiga yaitu, pohon toleran, semi toleran dan intoleran . pohon toleran dapat tumbuh apabila berada di bawah pohon lainnya atau mendapat naungan. Pohon semi toleran dimana pohon muda perlu mendapat naungan dan ketika pohon telah tumbuh besar perlu tumbuh di tempat yang terbuka. Sedangkan pohon intoleran dapat tumbuh dengan baik apabila berada di tempat yang terbuka atau kanopi yang terbuka lebar.
Penentuan toleransi pohon dapat dilihat dengan beberapa kriteria yaitu kerapatan tajuknya, cahaya minimum untuk keberadaan daun, pemangkasan alami, kecepatan pertumbuhan tanaman muda, penjarangan alami dan lainnya.
