Wilayah dengan kecenderungan paling besar dalam perkembangan kegiatan komersial umumnya berlokasi di kecamatan Banjarmasin Barat. Tingginya kecenderungan perkembangan kegiatan komersial dalam pemanfaatan lahan di kecamatan Banjarmasin Barat tersebut, didukung oleh ketersediaan jaringan jalan yang cukup baik dan kepadatan penduduk. Sedangkan kecenderungan terendah terdapat pada kecamatan Banjarmasin Utara yang dipengaruhi oleh kepadatan penduduk yang rendah sehingga rendahnya perkembangan kegiatan komersial dalam pemanfaatan lahan di kecamatan tersebut.
Klasifikasi kecamatan dilakukan berdasarkan karakteristik potensi perkembangan kegiatan komersial serta tingkat penyimpangan perubahan pemanfaatan lahan oleh kegiatan komersial terhadap rencana tata ruang yang telah terjadi (Lihat Tabel 2.11). Dalam analisis ini penyimpangan tersebut dijelaskan dengan indikator luas perubahan pemanfaatan lahan oleh kegiatan komersial yang tidak sesuai rencana pada periode tahun 2006. Kedua aspek ini perlu diamati secara bersamaan sebagai dasar pertimbangan dalam perumusan arahan pengendalian kegiatan komersial dalam pemanfaatan lahan di masa depan.
