Kosovo telah menempuh jalan panjang

Kosovo telah menempuh jalan panjang untuk memerdekakan dirinya. Selama secara administratif berada di bawah UNMIK terjadi banyak perundingan untuk mendapatkan pengakuan kemerdekaan. Pembicaraan mengenai status final Kosovo dimulai pada tahun 2006 di bawah pimpinan khusus Sekjen PBB, Martti Ahtisaari. Namun perundingan ini tidak berjalan mulus karena masing-masing pihak tetap bersitegang dan mempertahankan kepentingannya.
Hingga akhirnya, pada deklarasi kemerdekaan Kosovo yang dideklarasikan pada tanggal 17 Februari 2008.
