Penyelenggara produk asuransi kesehatan adalah perusahaan asuransi jiwa, perusahaan asuransi sosial dan perusahaan asuransi umum.

Di Indonesia sendiri para pegawai negeri (sipil dan non-sipil) mempunyai asuransi kesehatan dari PT Askes Indonesia, yang mana adalah perusahaan asuransi sosial.
PT Askes Indonesia menjamin anak-anak para pegawain negeri tersebut sampai usia 21 tahun, serta memberikan jaminan seumur hidup untuk para pensiunan beserta istri/suaminya.

Asuransi Kesehatan Penduduk Indonesia
Pemerintah Indonesia juga memberikan asuransi kesehatan bagi warga negara yang berpenghasilan rendah, yaitu JAMKEMNAS (Jaminan Kesehatan Masyarakat).
Program tersebut dibiayai oleh APBN.
Beberapa pemerintah Kabupaten/Kota dan pemerintah provinsi mempunyai program serupa yaitu Jamkesos ,Jamkesda, dan program-program tersebut dibiayai oleh APBD.

Beberapa perusahaan Asuransi Jiwa dan Asuransi Kerugian juga telah memperkenalkan program-program asuransi kesehatan dengan berbagai macam jenis varian.
Mereka bekerjasama dengan Rumah Sakit secara langsung ataupun melalui institusi (asisten manajemen jaringan Rumah Sakit).
