Merupan fungsi mandiri dan tidak tergantung pada orang lain, dimana perawat dalam melaksanakan tugasnya dilakukan secara sendiri dengan keputusan sendiri dalam melakukan tindakan dalam rangka memenuhi kebutuhan dasar manusia seperti pemenuhan kebutuhan fisiologis (pemenuhan kebutuhan oksigenasi, pemenuhan kebutuhan cairan dan elektrolit, pemenuhan kebutuhan nutrisi, pemenuhan kebutuhan aktifitas dan lain-lain), pemenuhan kebutuhan keamanan dan kenyamanan, pemenuhan cinta mencintai, pemenuhan kebutuhan harga diri dan aktualisasi diri.
