(lahir di Banyumas, Jawa Tengah, 10 Oktober 1907 – meninggal di Jakarta, 11 Juni 1962 pada umur 54 tahun) adalah tokoh perjuangan militer Indonesia dalam merebut kemerdekaan dan juga pahlawan nasional Indonesia. Ia dimakamkan di Ungaran, kabupaten Semarang. Pada tahun 1962, Soebroto dinobatkan sebagai Pahlawan Kemerdekaan Nasional menurut SK Presiden RI No.222 tanggal 18 Juni 1962. Ia juga merupakan ayah angkat dari Bob Hasan, seorang pengusaha ternama dan mantan menteri Indonesia pada era Soeharto.
Karier
Setamat pendidikan dasar die HIS, Gatot Subroto tidak melanjutkan ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi, namun memilih menjadi pegawai. Namun tak lama kemudian pada tahun 1923 memasuki sekolah militer KNIL di Magelang. Setelah Jepang menduduki Indonesia, serta merta Gatot Subroto pun mengikuti pendidikan PETA di Bogor. Setelah kemerdekaan, Gatot Subroto memilih masuk Tentara Keamanan Rakyat TKR dan kariernya berlanjut hingga dipercaya menjadi Panglima Divisi II, Panglima Corps Polisi Militer, dan Gubernur Militer Daerah Surakarta dan sekitarnya.
Setelah ikut berjuang dalam Perang Kemerdekaan, pada tahun 1949 Gatot Subroto diangkat menjadi Panglima Tentara & Teritorium (T&T) IV I Diponegoro.
Pada tahun 1953, beliau sempat mengundurkan diri dari dinas militer, namun tiga tahun kemudian diaktifkan kembali sekaligus diangkat menjadi Wakil Kepala Staf Angkatan Darat (Wakasad).
Beliau adalah penggagas akan perlunya sebuah akademi militer gabungan (AD,AU,AL) untuk membina para perwira muda. Gagasan tersebut diwujudkan dengan pembentukan Akademi Angkatan Bersenjata Republik Indonesia (AKABRI) pada tahun 1965.
