Penyebab kedua kenapa orang Indonesia belum pernah belanja online adalah ketidakpercayaan. Data riset dari Nielsen menyatakan bahwa 60% orang Indonesia masih takut untuk memberikan informasi kartu kredit mereka di internet untuk belanja online, lebih besar dari negara-negara di Asia Tenggara kecuali Filipina. Walaupun jumlahnya masih rendah dibanding negara dengan total penduduk besar lainnya, jumlah pengguna kartu kredit di Indonesia sudah mulai bertumbuh, pada tahun ini diharapkan pengguna kartu kredit di Indonesia akan mencapai angka 16.5 juta. Berbeda dengan kartu kredit, jumlah kartu debit di Indonesia jauh lebih unggul yaitu hampir mencapai 80 juta pada tahun 2013 kemarin.
