Abstract
Lack of Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM) is a nutritional problem in Indonesia is still high. Shortage of Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM) is a state of malnutrition caused by low consumption of energy and protein in a daily diet that can not meet the needs of macronutrients (energy substances, builder substances and fat) are usually accompanied by deficiencies of micronutrients (Vitamin A, iron, zinc, vitamin B and so on) according to the nutritional adequacy rate (AKG). Toddlers are the age group most vulnerable to suffer from malnutrition (PEM). 6-24 months age group is the largest group that suffer from protein-energy malnutrition, because at this age children are entering a period of sapling that is not followed by the provision of food sufficient to meet the nutrient. In general, the factors that determine the state of nutrition, especially of children is the parents' education level, economic conditions, the availability of food as well as health aspects. Each of these factors can affect the nutritional state of society, either directly or indirectly.
