Penyakit DBD adalah salah satu penyakit infeksi yang ditularkan melalui gigitan nyamuk yang banyak ditemukan didaerah tropis dan subtropis diseluruh dunia. Berdasarkan hasil survei awal yang dilakukan peneliti pada desember 2013, pada wilayah kerja Puskesmas Desa Binjai, wawancara singkat dengan 7 KK didapati pada umumnya masyarakat sudah mengenal DBD, upaya pencegahannya hanya 59,6% hanya terbatas pada fogging dan membersihkan saluran air dan kamar mandi namun program secara utuh tentang pencegahan DBD belum dipahami.
Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi analitik observasional dengan desain studi cross sectional. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 180 KK dengan cara menggunakan cluster random sampling.
Data Univariat dianalisis secara deskriptif dan data bivariat dianalisis menggunakan uji chi square 95% CI. Hasil penelitian diperoleh rata-rata kategori PSM yang berperan dengan kategori berpengetahuan baik diperoleh rp=2,148 dengan 95% CI (1,155-3,997). Sedangkan kategori PSM dengan kategori sikap positif dibandingkan PSM berperan dengan kategori sikap negatif memiliki rp=3,102, dengan nilai 95% CI (1,924-5,001).
