Viking ini mempunyai armada yang sangat tangguh dibidang pertahanan, dan menjadikannya perompak yang sangat disegani oleh negara- negara eropa, sehingga banyak warga eropa ketika ada viking singgah, mereka langsung membayar tebusan atau pajak, supaya mereka aman.
