Masalah kabut asap ini bukan lagi menjadi masalah dalam negeri, tetapi juga luar negeri. Kabut asap yang turut terbawa angin membuat negara tetangga juga tertutupi asap. Singapore salah satu negara yang terkena dampak yang cukup parah dari kabut asap tersebut. Permasalahan kabut asap tersebut menuai protes dari warga negara Singapore yang mengeluhkan terganggu dengan kabut asap tersebut. Keluhan warga negara Singapore tersebut mendorong pemerintah negara setempat untuk melakukan protes terhadap pemerintah Indonesia. Bahkan Menteri Luar Negeri Singapore sampai mengecam pemerintah Indonesia, kalau pemerintah Indonesia tidak mampu membereskan permasalahan yang ada di negaranya. Dengan adanya kecaman tersebut, hubungan antara Indonesia dan Singapore sempat memanas.
