latar belakang Penelitian ini yaitu banyak siswa yang merasa takut untuk menyampaikan pidato di depan umum, terutama untuk mengikuti lomba berpidato. mereka takut jika nanti terjadi kesalahan ketika menyampaikan pidato. maka mereka lebih memilih untuk mundur. ketakutan tersebut didasari karena mereka kurang berlatih dan kurang memiliki pengetahuan tentang cara-cara berpidato yang baik dan benar. Dalam hal ini peneliti berusaha mencari pemecahan permasalahan tersebut dengan membiasakan siswa berlatih untuk menyampaikan pidato di depan teman-teman mereka dalam satu kelas. dan pembiasaan latihan ini diwujudkan dalam suatu pembelajaran yang rutin dilaksanakan setiap minggu, seperti pembelajaran pidato yang dilaksanakan di pondok pesantren al mawaddah2.
