1. Jangan menyembah berhala, berbaktilah kepadaKu saja, dan cintailah Aku lebih dari segala Sesuatu
2. Jangan menyebut nama Tuhan Allahmu dengan tidak hormat
3. Kuduskanlah hari Tuhan
4. Hormatilah ibu-bapamu
5. Jangan membunuh
6. Jangan berzinah
7. Jangan mencuri
8. Jangan bersaksi dusta tentang sesamamu
9. Jangan mengingini istri sesamamu
10. Jangan mengingini milik sesamu secara tidak adil

Sepuluh Perintah Allah, bahasa Latinnya Dekalog (δέκα λόγοι) merupakan sepuluh perintah yang ditulis oleh Tuhan dan diberikan kepada bangsa Israel melalui perantaraan Musa di gunung Sinai dalam bentuk dua Loh batu. Sepuluh perintah Allah, bisa dibaca di kitab Keluaran 20:1-17 dan Ulangan 5:6-21 adapun penomoran sepuluh perintah Allah (Versi Katolik) adalah menurut penomoran St Agustinus.












A. Keluaran 20 : 1-2
“Akulah Tuhan, Allahmu, yang telah membawa engkau keluar dari tanah Mesir, dari tempat perbudakan”
Dengan perkataan ini, Ia hendak mengingatkan kita bahwa Ia adalah Allah kita yang selalu beserta dan menyertai kita di sepanjang hidup ini. Melalui ini juga, Ia menyatakan diriNya sebagai Allah pembebas.

B. Keluaran 20 : 3-11
Disini berisi tentang perintah pertama hingga yang keempat. Yang kesemuanya di tujukan tentang bagaimana kita menunjukkan ketaatan dan kasih kepada Tuhan kita

 Perintah kesatu : “jangan ada padamu allah lain dihadapanKu” (Kel20:3)
Perhatikan kata allah di atas! Kata allah dalam huruf kecil hendak menunjukkan allah yang palsu atau allah ciptaan manusia.
Kepada kita saat ini, perintah kesatu masih berlaku. Kita tidak boleh menyembah dan memperhambakan diri kepada allah-allah lain, misalnya percaya pada kuasa magis dan takhayul atau dengan memperhambakan diri kepada kemewahan, uang, ilmu pengetahuan, mode, dan sebagainya.
Perkataan “ada padamu allah” memiliki arti yakni menyandarkan diri, menaruh harapan, dan mencari kuasa-kuasa. Karena kita telah memiliki Allah yang kita percayai dan Kita juga telah menjadi milik Allah yang hidup, maka kita janganlah lagi percaya dan tunduk pada allah-allah lain atau kuasa-kuasa lain diluar Tuhan kita.
 Perintah kedua : “jangan membuat bagimu patung yang menyerupai apapun yang ada di langit di atas, atau yang ada dibumi dibawah, atau yang ada di dalam air dibawah bumi. Jangan sujud menyembah kepadanya atau beribadah kepadanya, sebab Aku Tuhan Allahmu adalah Allah yang cemburu, yang membalaskan kesalahan bapa kepada anak-anaknya, kepada keturunan yang ketiga dan keempat dari orang-orang yang membenci Aku. Tetapi aku menunjukkan kasih setia kepada beribu-ribu orang, yaitu mereka yang mengasihi Aku dan berpegang pada perintah-perintahKu.” (Kel20:4-6)
Perintah kedua membicarakan bagaimana cara kita menyembah Allah. Perintah ini mengandung arti sebagai berikut :
1. Dilarang mematungkan Allah dengan cara atau bentuk apapun
2. Dilarang menyembah, berdoa dan memohon kepada patung atau berhala
3. Dilarang melakukan kebaktian dengan cara yang salah (Kel 32)
 Perintah ketiga : “jangan menyebut nama Tuhan Allahmu dengan sembarangan, sebab Tuhan akan memandang bersalah orang yang menyebut namaNya dengan sembarangan” (Kel 20:7)
Perintah ini mengingatkan kita akan kekudusan nama Tuhan. Dalam bahasa Ibrani nama Tuhan adalah YHWH yang berarti “Aku (akan) ada ya Aku (akan) ada” (Kel 3:14). Dengan nama itu, Tuhan hendak menyatakan bahwa Ia akan selalu ada untuk menolong dan menyertai kita.
Dalam kitab Perjanjian Baru, nama Tuhan semakin jelas dalam diri Yesus Kristus, yang disebut Juru Selamat, yang diurapi.



 Perintah keempat : “Ingatlah dan kuduskanlah hari Sabat; enam hari lamanya engkau akan bekerja dan melakukan segala pekerjaanmu, tetapi hari ketujuh adalah hari Sabat Tuhan, Allahmu; maka jangan melakukan sesuatu pekerjaan, engkau atau anakmu laki-laki, atau anakmu perempuan, atau hambamu laki-laki, atau hambamu perempuan, atau hewanmu, atau orang asing yang di tempat kediamanmu. Sebab enam hari lamanya Tuhan menjadikan langit dan bumi, laut dan segala isinya, dan Ia berhenti pada hari ketujuh; itulah sebabnya Tuhan memberkati hari sabat dan menguduskannya” (kel 20:8-11)
Maksud dari perintah ini adalah :
1. Waktu atau hari yang di khususkan untuk Tuhan
2. Menyediakan waktu untuk merenungkan makna dan tujuan hidup kita di hadapan Tuhan agar kita dapat menemukan rancangan/rencana Tuhan didalamnya.
Kata Minggu, berasal dari bahasa Portugis, yakni “dominggu” yang artinya “Tuhan”. Sehingga hari minggu adalah hari Tuhan atau hari kemenangan Tuhan

C. Keluaran 20 : 12-17
Perintah kelima sampai yang kesepuluh menjelaskan kepada kita tentang cara mewujudkan ketaatan dan kasih kepada sesama kita.

 Perintah kelima : “Hormatilah ayah dan ibumu, supaya lanjut umurmu di tanah yang di berikan Tuhan Allahmu kepadamu” (kel 20:12)
Sesama yang pertama untuk kita hormati adalah orang tua kita, karena mereka adalah orang yang pertama kali mempunyai hubungan dengan kita. Selain itu juga kalimat ini merujuk pada orang yang lebih tua dari kita, seperti tokoh agama, guru, pemerintah, atasan kita, dan lainnya.
Sepanjang mereka melakukan tugas sesuai dengan kehendak Allah, kita harus mengikuti dan menaatinya dengan sungguh-sungguh. Karena tugas penting orang tua adalah meneruskan kisah karya penyelamatan Allah kepada anaknya (ulangan 6:4-9).

 Perintah keenam : “jangan membunuh” (kel 20:13)
Melalui perintah ini, kita di anjurkan untuk dapat menghargai hidup manusia. Hal ini dikarenakan, hidup adalah anugerah Allah yang mulia.

 Perintah ketujuh : “jangan berzinah” (Kel 20 : 14)
Perintah ini menganjurkan kita untuk menjaga kesucian tubuh kita. Maksud dari perintah ini ialah
1. Seseorang dilarang mengambil suami atau isteri sesamanya (2 Samuel 11:1-27)
2. Bertingkah laku, memikirkan, dan mengucapkan perkataan yang tidak senonoh atau porno (Efesus 4:29, Matius 5:28)
3. Melakukan persetubuhan dengan orang yang bukan dan belum menjadi suami istri atau bukan suami atau istrinya.
Perintah ini menyatakan kehendak Tuhan akan kesucian pernikahan dan seluruh kehidupan seksual di junjung tinggi sebagai pemberian Tuhan yang mulia. Pernikahan mencerminkan persekutuan antara Kristus dengan jemaatNya dan tubuh kita merupakan tempat kediaman roh kudus (Matius 5:27-28; Efesus 5:28-32; I Korintus 6:18-20).

 Perintah kedelapan : “Jangan mencuri” (Kel20:15)
Artinya adalah :
1. Kita harus mampu menghargai milik dan hak orang lain
2. Bersyukur atas apa yang telah kita masing-masing punyai
3. Bersyukur atas pemberian Tuhan kepada kita
 Perintah kesembilan : “jangan mengucapkan saksi dusta tentang sesamamu” (Kel20:16)
Perintah ini mengajak kita untuk :
1. Selalu hidup dalam kejujuran
2. Menjaga dan memperjuangkan kebenaran
3. Menjaga mulut kita sebagai alat komunikasi dan pembawa kasih yang baik.
Kata-kata yang kita ucapkan adalah alat dari Tuhan untuk mengadakan hubungan dan membentuk persekutuan dengan sesama manusia. Melalui perintah ini, kita sebagai saksi Kristus yang ada di tengah dunia ini diingatkan untuk selalu berkata secara jujur dan benar.

 Perintah kesepuluh : “Jangan mengingini rumah sesamamu; jangan mengingini isterinya, atau hambanya laki-laki, atau hambanya perempuan, atau lembunya, atau keledainya, atau apa pun yang di punyai sesamamu” (Kel20:17)
Perintah kesepuluh ini lebih bersifat batiniah, yakni tentang keinginan. Jika kita mampu menguasai keinginan-keinginan, tentulah kita tidak akan memiliki keinginan untuk menguasai milik orang lain.
