Melalui pendekatan ini, peneliti mengkaji petanda dan penanda yang nampak dalam scenes yang terdapat dalam 3 episode terpilih yang menunjukkan adanya representasi dari budaya Melayu. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan wujud budaya Melayu yang direpresentasikan melalui film Upin-Ipin khususnya pada episode terpilih yang bertema perayaan Hari Raya.
