suatu hari ada seekor burung gagak bertengger diatas pohon dengan sepotong keju di paruhnya. hal itu membuat rubah tertarik. rubah pun membuat strategi dengan sengaja memuji gagak, agar gagak tersanjung dengan pujian itu dan membuatnya terus bernyanyi sampai keju itu terjatuh. akan tetapi hal itu gagal. gagak segera mengambil keju itu dari paruhnya menggunakan cakar kakinya, kemudian dia bercerita tentang dirinya. Rubah akhirnya mengatur strategi lain dengan bepura-pura senang mendengar cerita gagak dan berpura-pura ingin mencari makan. akan tetapi gagak melarangnya pergi dan bersedia berbagi makan siang dengan rubah. lalu gagak segera melemparkan bagian terbesar dari keju itu kepada rubah. gagak pun melanjutkan ceritanya dengan angkuh. akhirnya rencana rubah berhasil. dia pun berterima kasih dan segera berlari ke hutan membawa sepotong keju yang ia dapat kan.dan tinggallah gagak yang lapar bertengger diatas pohon.
